Josh Shipplett, Lanier Tech Grad, part of Sunday's Daytona 500 Winning Team!

Josh Shipplett, a Laniertech Motorsports Vehicle Technology Grad, is a member of Sunday’s Daytona 500 winning team at the Daytona International Speedway!

Shiplett, a member of Denny Hamlin’s Crew, which is part of the Joe Gibbs team, helped Hamlin, driving car #11, win his second-career victory in the “Great American Race”.

Josh is a perfect example of how Lanier Technical College helps students find and follow their passions and dreams in fast-paced, exciting, and fulfilling careers at the top of their fields.

The Lanier Tech Motorsports Vehicle Technology Program has been launching student's careers in the Motorsports Industry since 2001 filling the employment needs for pit crews and race teams in NASCAR, IMSA Sportscar Racing, IRL (Indy Racing League), and NHRA Drag Racing all across the United States.

The Motorsports Vehicle Technology program provides hands-on instruction through their high tech Motorsports Training Labs and internship program where students intern for professional race teams while earning both real world experience and student credit towards an accredited Associates Degree at the same time.

The Lanier Technical College Motorsports Vehicle Technology Program produces graduates who not only have the skills to be successful, but also to compete at the highest levels of the industry and Josh Shipplett is an excellent role models for future students to follow in his 2019 Daytona 500 Winning footsteps.

As of February 2019 John Leverett was hired as the new Program Director for the Lanier Tech Motorsports Vehicle Technology Program. Mr. Leverett come to us with 25 years of experience in the Automotive and Motorsports Industry from the Panoz Auto Development Company. Mr. Leverett is another shining example of the years of industry experience that our instructors bring to the classroom everyday for our students to gain the important skills that they will need in their careers.
