Lanier Tech hosts the 2020 TCSG Northern Region Awards Luncheon

Lanier Technical College hosted the TCSG 2020 Northern Region Awards Luncheon at the Ramsey Conference Center at the College's Hall Campus. GOAL Student of the Year and Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year winners from nine technical colleges competed before a panel of business, civic and industry leaders for top honors in the TCSG Northern Region. The top three Northern Region finalists in each category, along with the finalists from the other twelve technical colleges, will proceed to the TCSG state-level competition in Atlanta on April 22, 2020.

The GOAL program spotlights the outstanding achievement by students in Georgia’s technical colleges and emphasizes the importance of technical education in today’s global workforce.

The state GOAL winner becomes the student ambassador for the Technical College System of Georgia and receives a grand prize of a new car provided by Kia Motors Manufacturer Georgia, the statewide corporate sponsor of Georgia’s GOAL program. The Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year wins $1,000.

In recent years, Lanier Technical College has had two state-level GOAL winners, Desmond Vaird, and Katie Ballard, and two Rick Perkins Instructor of the Year winners, Dr. David Byers and Christian Tetzlaff.
