Lanier Technical College hosted the state-wide SkillsUSA Automated Manufacturing Technology Competition at the College’s Hall Campus. Team Lanier Tech competed with teams from Wiregrass Technical College in Valdosta, Chattahoochee Technical College in Marietta, and South Georgia Technical College in Americus. The 12 student competitors and their four teams will learn their results on Saturday, March 23, 2019 during the SkillsUSA State Competition.

The Skills USA Automated Manufacturing Technology competition consisted of students utilizing Computer Automated Drafting (CAD) to construct part geometry, Computer Automated Machining (CAM) to generate tool paths, and Computer Numerical Controls (CNC) to machine the part. These tools and parts are utilized to run and maintain factory equipment and high tech, advanced assembly processes. AMT skills are in high demand in today’s high tech, advanced manufacturing environments.

The results from the AMT competition will be announced at the State competition on Saturday, March 23rd in Atlanta. The gold medal winners will go on to National Competition in Louisville, Kentucky to represent the state of Georgia in the national competition.
