Here are the top stories today in and around Cumming:

  1. Multiple north Georgia counties, including Forsyth, will undergo a freeze warning starting today at midnight, the National Weather Service announced. The warning is set to last until 10 a.m. today. Impacted counties are Bartow, Cherokee, Forsyth, Hall, Paulding, Cobb, Douglas, Heard, Coweta, Fayette, Troup and Meriwether. Residents should prevent freezing in pipes by wrapping them, draining them or allowing them to slowly drip. They should also protect their plants and vegetation from the cold. (Patch)
  2. Keep Forsyth County Beautiful, in partnership with the Forsyth County Recycling and Solid Waste Department and the City of Cumming, will host a Household Hazardous Waste Recycling and Disposal event from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Cumming Fairgrounds' parking lot 3, 235 Castleberry Road. Pre-registration is required, and there is a limited number of registrants. The event is free but a $5 donation to KFCB is suggested. (KFCB)
  3. FORE! Forsyth County Schools has an early release day today so drop by Sharon Forks Library to play a round of seasonal miniature golf today between noon-4 p.m. Think you can sink a putt in a pumpkin? The program is for children in grades K-5. No registration is required. (Forsyth County Library)
  4. In partnership with the Forsyth County Health Department, Forsyth County Schools is holding a no-cost flu shot clinic for Forsyth County children ages 4-18 from 2-6 p.m. today. It is an early release day, and the clinic will be held at the ACE Building, 1160 Dahlonega Highway in Cumming. A parent or guardian must accompany all students. If you have medical insurance or Medicaid, please bring it with you. (Forsyth County Schools)
