Local STAR Hoping to Ride in Atlanta Ride for Kids

Little Colton hopes to feel well enough to enjoy a motorcycle ride and help raise money to cure childhood brain tumors.

Colton was diagnosed at 11 weeks old with an immature teratoma brain tumor. Colton’s first year of his life was a bit of a rough start as he spent 122 days at Scottish Rite Hospital. Colton had a second surgery in April 2016 to remove brain tumor and since then he has been doing very well. In October 2016 Colton started having seizures. We have been adjusting and starting new medicines some days are better than others but he still having them. Colton is now almost 2 years old and other than having the seizures he is doing very well considering.

Colton recently had his 6-month MRI and the doctor thinks that the little piece that they thought was a tumor left over is a piece of brain tissue. So that means that Colton is brain tumor free!! When comparing the last three MRIs it has not had any change in size so he believes it's not the tumor. Since Colton's seizures have not gotten any better we're going to follow up in three months. The doctor wants to give the medicine a little bit more time and start a new diet and see if anything changes. If not, we will be seeing him in three months to determine what our next step will be. He explained some surgery options if Colton is a candidate for surgery, but we won't know until we have further testing.

He is happy and smiles all the time. Our biggest medicine has been God and all of our supporters who have prayed and have been there for us at our toughest times. The Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation has been so wonderful to our family. We have been so blessed to get to meet some amazing people.

It’s for Stars like Colton that we ride in the Atlanta Ride for Kids. We take the Stars and their families out for an hour long, carefree ride for them to forget their daily battle, if, for only just a short time. We also use this opportunity to raise awareness and much needed money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation (PBTF) is the world's largest nonprofit funder of research into cures for childhood brain tumors. PBTF has funded more than $28 million to date, supporting the best and brightest at institutions nationwide.
