A Long Distance 'Thank You' To Forsyth Deputies

CUMMING, GA, — As it turns out, Arizona and Georgia are not that far apart, at least as far as Tayler and Caleb Benedetto, two siblings from Avondale, Az., are concerned. The Benedettos know no distance is too far to thank police officers and deputies.

"We received these handwritten thank you cards all the way from Arizona!" the Forsyth Sheriff's Office shared on their Facebook page. "Eleven-year-old Taylor Benedetto and her 8-year-old brother Caleb have been busy writing cards for law enforcement officers since 2015. The pair aspire to be police officers and are on a mission to show their appreciation to their heroes across the country. As of January 1st, they had already reached over 850 departments. The Benedetto siblings, along with their father Leonard, have also started a campaign to raise money for police K9 vests. To date they have generated over $3,150 for the cause. Thank you, Taylor and Caleb! DFC Soto and DFC Dublin, along with the rest of us at FCSO, appreciate all that you are doing."

This young brother and sister team has made supporting law enforcement a personal crusade since October 2014, when their Avondale school offered career day. Tayler and Caleb wore police uniforms for the event and have been on a mission to thank police and deputies everywhere ever since.

Their father, Leonard Benedetto, created a Facebook page with the following introduction: “Hi! My name is Tayler and I’m 8 years old. This is my brother Caleb and he’s 6. We both want to be a police officer when we grow up. We are working on a project with our dad to collect as many police patches as we can. My dad will help us learn about the state it is mailed from. Please help us with our project.”
