Man Arrested In Attempted Child Abduction At Cumming Bookstore

CUMMING, GA — An Alpharetta man was arrested and charged with kidnapping after Sunday's attempted child abduction of a three-year-old at the Barnes and Noble bookstore at the Collection Shopping Center off Peachtree Parkway, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office. The child was not injured during the attempt.

Michael Fazio, 26, was arrested Monday morning and is currently being housed in the Forsyth County Detention Center without bond. Fazio physically picked up a three-year-old male child inside of the Barnes and Noble store and then attempted to exit the store with the child, according to police reports. The father of the child saw the event unfold and intervened stopping the event. Multiple Deputies canvassed the area and recovered video evidence of the attempted abduction. FCSO shared this video on our social media sites and multiple investigative leads came into the Sheriff’s Office as a result of the video being shared.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit are continuing the investigation looking into motive, past history and Fazio's actions since the attempt. No further details are being released at this time.
