Man Found Drowned on Lake Lanier Was Homeless, Police Say

There were no signs of trauma or foul play in the death of the 46-year-old man.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man whose body was found on the shores of Mary Alice Park last Monday.

According to a Sheriff’s Office press release, the man’s fingerprints identified him as Chad Frank Lovett, 46. Sheriff’s Office investigators have learned that Lovett was homeless and was living in a tent at a campsite in Mary Alice Park. Investigators also learned that Lovett was in the habit of taking a kayak out on Lake Lanier to visit the various islands. Lovett’s kayak has not been found.

An autopsy on Lovett performed by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation revealed no signs of trauma or foul play which may have caused Lovett’s death.
