Man Shot, Killed Outside Party Near Gainesville

Police say Cornelius Gordon, 24, of Gainesville, was sitting in his car outside a party when he was shot in the head early Monday.

GAINESVILLE, GA — Hall County authorities are searching for the person who shot and killed a Gainesville man who was sitting in his car outside a party early Monday.

Around 2 a.m. Monday, investigators with the Hall County Sheriff's Office were called to a home on Barnes Drive in regard to a shooting.

They learned that Cornelius Gordon, 24, of Gainesville, had been shot. He was taken by friends to North East Georgia Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries.

Investigators are actively pursuing lead to try to identify a suspect, the sheriff's office said in a news release.

Hall County Sheriff's Office spokesman Lt. Scott Ware told The Gainesville Times that Gordon did not live at the mobile home where a party was taking place.
