Here are the top five stories today in Cumming:

  2. A pair of early childhood education centers in the Atlanta suburbs has been sold to the Stan Johnson Company for $15 million total. The properties are in Cumming and Roswell, and are currently leased to the Little Sunshine Playhouse. Currently, the Stan Johnson Company has no plans for the buildings. (Connect CRE)
  3. Do you know when the district goes back to school? As a reminder for Cumming parents and teachers, Forsyth County Schools will begin the 2022-23 school year on Thursday, Aug. 4. Visit your local school's website to see your supply list. (WSB 2)
  4. Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their 2022 State of the Schools event on Aug. 2. At the event, community leaders will discuss last year's accomplishments and share the plans for the district's 2022-23 school year, including Cumming's. The event will be held at the FoCAL Center and starts at 9:30 a.m. (Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce)
  5. Forsyth County's Senior Services recently won the Senior Hunger Collaborative Solutions Award for the department's mobile food bank held weekly in low-income neighborhoods. The award was announced at Georgia's Division of Aging's Healthy Communities Summit. Congratulations to Polli, Susan, Chris, John, Susy, Ruthie, and the entire Senior Services team!
