New Restaurant By Sal's Place Owner Opens in Cumming

CUMMING, GA — A new Italian eatery by the former owner of Sal's Place on the square in downtown Cumming opened Monday.

Grazie Mille, which means "a thousand thanks" in Italian, is located at 1370 Buford Hwy., in the former location of Maxwell Street Chicago Eatery.

Its owner, Salvatore Salamone, ran Sal's Place on Courthouse Square for more than 14 years before selling it over the summer.

The new restaurant, Salamone told the Forsyth County News, gives him new opportunities to explore.

"(At Sal's Place) I was space-limited, and the customers were accustomed to exactly what they liked and what they had for so long,” he told the paper.

The new restaurant's menu includes pizzas, strombolis and calzones, salads, subs and paninis and appetizers ranging from calamari to fried lasagna.

According to the restaurant's Facebook page, it will be open Tuesday from 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
