Here are the top stories today in and around Cumming:
- Alpharetta Avalon will be hosting an Oktoberfest celebration Oct. 1. The event will be from 5-8 p.m. Its main street will be turned into a beer hall, featuring outdoor games and pop-up stations from some of the community's restaurants. "Don your lederhosen or dirndl and grab your friends as we celebrate with music, dancing, specialty bites, brews, and more!" Tickets are $15 and can be found here. (CBS 46)
- The Atlanta Braves not only clinched a playoff spot with its 3-2 win over the Washington Nationals Tuesday night, but the team celebrated a record-setting achievement yesterday by welcoming its 3 millionth fan to Truist Park this season. It's the first time since 2000 that the 3 million mark will be surpassed during the regular season and the first time ever at Truist Park, which the Braves moved to in 2017. The lucky fan, Anita Outlaw, will receive a custom "3 Million" jersey, a personal visit with the 2021 World Champions Trophy, a pair of 2023 opening day tickets, a $500 gift card to the Atlanta Braves Clubhouse Store, free Chick-fil-A for a year, a one-night stay at Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort, and the possibility they may be featured on a Braves billboard. - Looking for a day trip this weekend? With fall in the air, Vogel State Park in the north Georgia mountains will be hosting a Mountain Music Day Festival from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. this Saturday. There will be music, local crafters, food trucks and more. Admission is $8 for those 16 and older. Children 15 and younger are free. Parking is $5. (Georgia State Parks)

- Forsyth County Public Library is looking for teenagers interested in serving on a Teen Advisory Board (TAB). TAB is for teens in grades 6-12 that help plan and promote teen programs in the county's libraries. It's designed to help students gain leadership experience, help the community and meet new people. You can also visit 988lifeline.org/chat to chat with a caring counselor. This shortcut is not replacing the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (1-800-273-8255) but will serve as an easy alternative for anyone experiencing a mental health crisis.
