Out of State Shoplifting Crew Targeted Cumming Walmart, Sheriff's Office Says

Two of the three suspects escaped the area, but a third man was injured and is recovering in a local hospital.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office believes that a trio of shoplifters who hit two Walmarts in Forsyth County came from South Carolina, WSB-TV says.

According to WSB-TV, the trio pulled off a successful job at the Walmart in Gainesville, but an eagle-eyed loss prevention worker at the Cumming Walmart spotted the unusual activity and notified law enforcement. Detectives gave chase, and the trio eventually bailed out of their getaway vehicle, the station reports. Two of the suspects got away, WSB-TV says, but the driver fell down a ravine and suffered broken bones.

The injured driver is recovering in the hospital, and sheriff’s deputies have learned the names of the other two suspects in the crew, WSB-TV says. Authorities are now searching for Frankie Hampton, 26, and Derrick Davis, 23, who are likely back in South Carolina, according to WSB-TV.
