Pinecrest Band to Perform at Carnegie Hall

Fifty-six students from Pinecrest Academy will perform at New York City's Carnegie Hall this Friday.

The Pinecrest Academy Symphonic Band has been invited to perform at New York City’s Carnegie Hall on Friday, April 6. Fifty-six students with just three years experience will perform in one of the most prestigious venues in the entire world.

In Spring 2011, the Symphonic Band, under the direction of Band Director, Len Insalaca, performed with more than 50 other high school groups from across the country at the Heritage Festival in New York City. With only 19 months of playing their instruments, Pinecrest’s band students won the 1st Place Gold Award in their division, an unprecedented accomplishment, thus earning the invitation to perform at Carnegie Hall this spring.

While in New York this week, students and their families will participate in a number of activities, which include daily Mass and Holy Week observance at St. Patrick’s Cathedral; a Broadway performance of Mary Poppins; tour of the Empire State Building, and informal tours of Times Square and downtown Manhattan.
