Registration Open for Forsyth Citizens' Fire Academy

The 10-week course will give participants a hands-on look at the Forsyth County Fire Department and the latest in fire fighting technology.

The Forsyth County Fire Department is now accepting applications for its Citizens’ Fire Academy, a 10-week course which will immerse participants in various aspects of the fire department.

Each session during the 10-week program will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday evenings. The first session is Feb. 17, with the final sessions on April 28 and May 2. The Citizens’ Fire Academy will be held at the Forsyth County Public Safety Complex at 3520 Settingdown Road in Cumming.

According to Forsyth County’s website, Citizen’s Fire Academy participants will learn about the different types of services provided by the fire department, meet first responders, and get hands-on experience with firefighting equipment.

Applicants for the Citizens’ Fire Academy must be at least 18 years old and a resident of Forsyth County. Applicants must also pass a drug and background check. To apply for the program, please fill out this application packet in its entirety and submit it to:

Applications can also be faxed to 770-781-2194 or e-mailed to rlgreen@forsythco.com. Applicants who submit applications by fax or e-mail should keep an extra copy of their application and bring it to the first Citizens’ Fire Academy meeting on Feb. 17.
