Roadwork On Ga. 400 In Forsyth Continues Tuesday

Only northbound lanes will have closures during rush hour, the Georgia Department of Transportation says.

CUMMING, GA -- Forsyth County commuters heading north on Ga. 400 Tuesday morning may want to give themselves a few extra minutes.

Road widening work on 400 from McFarland Parkway to State Route 369 will be going on Tuesday during rush hour, but only on northbound lanes.

The roadwork, funded by a bond referendum package approved by voters in 2014, will be going on, weather permitting, from 9 p.m.-noon daily.

But work on southbound lanes will be suspended during the morning rush hours.

"Southbound motorists and commuters are advised to proceed as normal and are not impacted by construction activities occurring northbound," the Georgia Department of Transportation said in a news release.

Overall, the construction work will extend about 14 miles. It includes the widening of bridges over Big Creek Greenway and the Sawnee Creek area of Lake Lanier.

The work on Ga. 400's southbound lanes is being done on weekends and during weeknight lane closures from 7 p.m.-5 a.m.

All work is subject to weather conditions and may be delayed or postponed. The Georgia DOT encourages motorists to call 511, visit 511ga.org , or check the 511 Georgia and Atlanta Traffic app before departing for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
