Scholarships Available For Forsyth Students, Deadline Nearing
The Cumming Chapter 1030 of the Vietnam Veterans of America is offering three $1,000 scholarships to Forsyth County students.
CUMMING, GA -- Forsyth County high school seniors have until April 15 to apply for three $1,000 scholarships offered by the Cumming Chapter 1030 of the Vietnam Veterans of America.
This is the fourth annual scholarship competition and is open to all Forsyth County high
school seniors in both public and private schools. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, the
child, grandchild or great grandchild of a U.S. military veteran who served during any
period.
The winning applicants will display an excellent academic record, involvement in school
activities, community service and write a minimum 500 word original essay about “Why
Freedom Isn’t Free.”

Chapter President Gary Goyette and Scholarship Chairman Marty Farrell encourage all
eligible seniors to apply and that the April 15 postmark, which will be strictly enforced.
Scholarships will be awarded at the June monthly meeting of VVA Chapter 1030. Each
scholarship is awarded in the name of a Vietnam Combatant killed in action.
