Scientific Games employees donated nearly 5,000 school supply items to the United Way of Forsyth County in a "Stuff the Bus" event to benefit students in Forsyth County schools.

Employees at the company's Global Technology Center of Excellence in Alpharetta gathered school supplies throughout July. They then spent a lunch hour recently loading their donations onto a Forsyth County Schools bus with boxes of notebooks, folders, pencils, crayons, calculators and other needed supplies filling every bus seat.

“United Way of Forsyth County truly appreciates the generosity of each and every Scientific Games employee who donated these much needed school supplies for students in our community,” said Leigh Crow, Resource Development director for the United Way of Forsyth County. “According to the U.S. Census, 6.6 percent of Forsyth County residents live in poverty and 21 percent of our students participate in the free and reduced lunch program in our schools.  The need for assistance in our community is growing every day and we want to do what we can to help those who are struggling.  However, we cannot do it alone.”

The Stuff the Bus outreach to benefit local students was coordinated by SG Cares, a Scientific Games community and charitable engagement program that connects the Company’s employees with local non-profit organizations in their communities throughout the U.S. and around the world.

“Stuff the Bus was part of SG Cares’ global charitable engagement to help students be successful in their educational studies. At Scientific Games locations in other cities and countries, there have been similar outreaches into the local community,” said Simone Harrison, Vice President of Communications. “Together, we make a difference, and we are glad to have made a difference with the United Way of Forsyth County here in Georgia.”
