Semanson Elected To County Commission
The Republican faces no Democratic opposition in the race for the District 5 seat.

CUMMING, GA — Laura Semanson has defeated Justin Hawkins for a seat on the Forsyth County Commission.
In unofficial results, Semanson won 1,570 votes in Tuesday's runoff election to Hawkins' 1,152.
Hawkins and Semanson were seeking the Republican nomination for the District 5 seat vacated by incumbent Jim Boff, who did not seek re-election.

In a three-way race, Semanson earned 43 percent of the vote in the May primary and Hawkins took 32 percent -- neither reaching the 50 percent needed to avoid a runoff under Georgia law.
No Democrat qualified to seek the seat and Semanson will be unopposed in the November general election.
