Sheriff Issues Rabies Alert Around Cumming
A cat picked up in the area was confirmed to have rabies Friday, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office said.

CUMMING, GA — The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office was urging pet owners and others to beware Friday after a case of rabies was confirmed in Cumming.
According to a Facebook post from the sheriff's office, a stray cat was picked up in the area of Highway 9 and McFarland Parkway. It was taken to a veterinarian's office, where it was confirmed to have rabies.
In the post, the sheriff's office asks pet owners to keep their animals from roaming and away from stray cats and other small animals.

Also, all residents were urged to use caution when encountering animals they aren't familiar with.
