Sheriff's Office Hosting Online Safety Course for Parents Tuesday

A School Resource Officer will brief parents about the threats kids face on the internet, and ways parents can protect kids from threats.

The internet is a big place, and it can be a scary place for parents who aren’t sure what their children are doing on their laptops, cell phones, or tablets.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office wants to help parents become better stewards of their children’s online activities, and is hosting a one-hour information session called “Internet Safety at Home” on Feb. 10 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Daves Creek Elementary School.

A Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer will lead the session, which will cover topics such as basic internet safety, ways to protect your children from online predators, and will take an unflinching look at the dark side of social networking.

“The presentation is designed to educate you as the parent on things your kids already know about, what to watch for and how to protect them,” writes the Sheriff’s Office on its Facebook page.

There is no cost or registration for Tuesday’s event, and all are welcome to attend.
