SoCal Company Expands In Forsyth County

The $1.5 million expansion is underway.

A $1.5 million expansion of the Collins Company is underway in Forsyth County. The 37-year-old company based in Chino, California specializes in tennis court equipment sales and in the development of new fencing fabrics and installation techniques for construction sites and athletic fields including baseball netting.

President and CEO Larry Collins chose Forsyth County for his company’s expansion because of his ties here. “I use to live in Georgia, so I have a liking for Georgia.”

For the last 15 years Collins’ has been overseeing the Southern California company and said, “I have a son running it here, so wanted to return to Georgia and spend some time expanding the business there.”

Collins said it’s more affordable to do business in Forsyth County and in January purchased a building on Weber Industrial Blvd. in Cumming.

In a statement by the Cumming-Forsyth County Chamber of Commerce, the Collins Company has already hired a local resident to serve as the operations manager.

The company received their first delivery of product last week and Collins believes it will take the rest of the year before the company is fully set up to do everything. He said, “It’s a gradual process.”

As far as staffing goes, Collins has several sales and production people lined up, but will be hiring a few more people for “specialized” positions in the coming months.

“As we grow we’ll be adding one or two at a time,” said Collins.
