South Forsyth Student Takes Second At National Debate Competition

Sudhan Chitgopkar, competing in the junior varsity division, was second in team debate and 5th as an individual speaker.

CUMMING, GA — A South Forsyth High School student and his teammate took second place at a major national debate competition at Georgetown University over the weekend.

Sudhan Chitgopkar, a sophomore, was competing as part of the local Ivy Bridge Academy team.

In the junior varsity division, he and his partner won seven debates in two days. Chitgopkar also was awarded fifth-place as an individual speaker.

"The IBA coaches and staff are extremely proud of all of their students as they all work together to help

the team accomplish such amazing results," the group said in a news release. "Each competition has given the debaters a chance to continue to learn, improve, work together, and demonstrate their accomplishments on a national level."

Ivy Bridge Academy offers after-school and summer programs in debate, language skills and math.
