Supt. Bearden Named Finalist for GA Supt. of the Year

• The Georgia School Superintendents Association (GSSA) has named Superintendent Jeff Bearden a finalist for the 2021 Georgia Superintendent of the Year. Each year GSSA calls for and accepts nominations from local school boards, Regional Education Service Agencies, business organizations and communities, and education colleagues in the state.

“I am humbled and honored to have been selected as a finalist for Georgia’s Superintendent of the Year,” shared Dr. Bearden. “This is, yet further validation of the great work that happens every day in FCS. I share this honor with every employee in our great school system. Nothing happens in isolation. Our entire family focuses every day on taking great care of our community’s most precious resource, our children. This is my 7th year serving FCS and I look forward with eternal hope and optimism of the great work still to come. I would remiss if I did not thank our entire community for their tremendous support of our school system. We are successful because home, school, and community work as partners. We will continue to do just that.”

According to GSSA, each finalist has been singled out for their leadership abilities and their excellent skill set in working with their boards, staff, and local communities. The winner will be announced in December. Other finalists include Mike Duncan (Pike County Schools), Noris Price (Baldwin County Schools), and Steve Smith (Bleckley County Schools).
