Here are the top stories today in Cumming:

1. The Forsyth County Fire Department is looking for vendors to participate in their annual Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, Oct. 22. Interested local businesses and organizations can hand out candy from a decorated vehicle trunk or have a booth with a fun activity. Vendor applications are due Friday, Oct. 14. 2. Forsyth County Commissioners have approved a $6 million purchase of nearly 49 acres off Lake Lanier that may become a county park one day. Commissioners unanimously approved the purchase last Thursday, agreeing to buy the property off Bald Ridge Marina Road in east Forsyth County just southeast of the Cumming Costco store and Ga. 400. 3. Hopewell Baptist Church will be hosting its Community Fall Festival and charity Saturday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. The event will be held on the church grounds at 15730 Hopewell Rd. A plated, homemade fried chicken dinner will be offered at $12 per plate to include chicken, sides, and beverage.
