Waffle House Waitress Put Meth in Co-Worker's Drink, Police Say

Sonserea Dawn Evans is charged with drug possession and aggravated battery for the WaHo incident.

DAWSONVILLE, GA -- A Waffle House waitress is accused of trying to poison a co-worker by putting methamphetamine in his drink, authorities say.

Sonserea Dawn Evans, 43, of Cumming, Ga., faces felony charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and aggravated battery.

She was arrested on Friday and was being held without bond Wednesday at Dawson County Jail, according to sheriff’s office spokesman Capt. Tony Wooten.

According to Wooten, sheriff’s deputies were called to the Waffle House on Georgia Hwy. 53 near Dawsonville at about midnight Dec. 23 after reports that a 37-year-old employee was having a medical emergency.

He was taken to an area hospital in serious condition, Wooten said. He is still hospitalized now, according to Wooten, and at one point was in a comatose state, requiring a feeding tube and ventilator.

Some time later, sheriff’s investigators were informed that a video existed showing that the man’s drink had been drugged.

Waffle House managers turned over the video, which authorities say shows Evans taking her co-worker’s drink to the bathroom and returning it before the video shows him drinking it.

Wooten said Evans has been uncooperative with investigators and that they are still trying to establish a motive in the case.

“Welcome to the world, I guess,” Wooten said Wednesday.
