Woman Killed When Tree Falls On Car In Forsyth County

BREAKING: The female passenger was inside a vehicle near Shadburn Road when the fatal accident occurred, Forsyth sheriff's deputies say.

CUMMING, GA -- The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is reporting one person has been killed when a tree fell and landed on a vehicle Monday afternoon. The accident, the agency said on its Facebook page, occurred in a private driveway near Shadburn Road, which is off Keith Bridge Road.

The sheriff's office said its deputies and the Forsyth County Fire Department and worked diligently to rescue the female passenger "who sadly died from her injuries," it added.

This accident comes just hours after a Sandy Springs man was killed inside his home when a tree fell onto the structure and split the residence in half, the city told Patch.

Downed trees and power lines are rampant across metro Atlanta, as remnants of Hurricane Irma continue to push through North Georgia. Residents are asked to stay off the roads as emergency crews work to clear roadways and declare them safe for passage.
