Young Forsyth County Jaywalkers Receive Grave Sentence
The high school students were given a unique punishment to show why they need to use the crosswalk by their school.

A group of high school students have gained a new appreciation for life after a Forsyth County judge ordered them to serve a macabre punishment for jaywalking one too many times.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Lambert High School students were sent to juvenile court after a laundry list of warnings and citations for jaywalking across Old Atlanta Road to their subdivision instead of walking 50 feet down the road and using a crosswalk.
As part of their punishment, each student was required to write their own obituary and read it to the parents and had to visit a local funeral home, wrote the AJC. These measures were meant to reinforce the idea that jaywalking across the busy road can save time, but using the crosswalk can save lives.

The students were also enrolled into the “Reality Check” diversion program usually reserved for juvenile traffic offenders, the AJC said.
School resource officers at Lambert told the AJC that the harsh measures seemed to be working so far, as no citations had been issued for jaywalking since school returned for the spring semester last week.
