'Armed and Dangerous' Wanted Man Arrested, Police Say
Police has been searching for Ryan Van Hovey since he eluded state troopers last week. He was arrested in Gwinnett Thursday morning.

The wanted Gwinnett County man, considered armed and dangerous after he eluded state troopers last week, has been caught, according the Georgia State Patrol.

Ryan Van Hovey, 28, of Buford was arrested early Thursday morning in the parking lot of a Red Roof Inn in Suwanee, the Gainesville Times reported. He was found with a semiautomatic pistol, ammunition and methamphetamine, the state patrol said.
He was arrested without incident, the newspaper reported.

Van Hovey was being held without bond Thursday afternoon in the Gwinnett County Jail, according to jail records. He is charged with possession of a weapon during a crime, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, armed robbery, drug possession with intent to distribute and violation of probation.
Police had been searching for Van Hovey since he sped away from troopers last Wednesday night, July 15, during an attempted traffic stop. He led police on a high-speed chase in Habersham and Hall counties before bogging his car down in mud. He fled on foot, and was believed to be hiding in the woods.
A search of Van Hovey’s car after the chase found drugs, ammunition and body armor, the state patrol said.
Van Hovey was wanted on drug and robbery charges in Gwinnett. Additional charges are possible.
