Body of Missing Teen Recovered from Lake Lanier
Authorities suspect the 19-year-old drowned in Lake Lanier after fleeing from an illegal party in a nearby park.

The body of a 19-year-old Forsyth County man who had been missing since Tuesday morning was recovered from Lake Lanier Thursday morning, The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
Cody Daniel Gibbsβ body was discovered at roughly 7:15 a.m. by a Forsyth County sheriffβs deputy, a spokesman told the AJC. The deputy was the first law enforcement officer to return to the cove since Wednesdayβs search was suspended due to darkness.

Gibbs was found roughly 50 yards from Wednesdayβs search zone. His body has been taken to the coroner for an autopsy, but authorities suspect he drowned in the lake.
Gibbs was one of 20 people attending an illegal drinking party at Two Mile Creek Park after midnight on Tuesday when a Forysth County Sheriffβs deputy arrived to break it up. The deputy managed to stop some of the partygoers, but Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers said the deputy heard the sound of people running into the lake to avoid being caught.

ORIGINAL STORY (7:00 a.m.): Authorities have released the name of a 19-year-old Forsyth County teenager who has been missing since Tuesday morning near Lake Lanier, 11 Alive News reports.
Cody Daniel Gibbs was one of 20 people attending an illegal drinking partyat Two Mile Creek Park after midnight on Tuesday when a Forysth County Sheriffβs deputy arrived to break it up. The deputy managed to stop some of the partygoers, but Forsyth County Fire Division Chief Jason Shivers said the deputy heard the sound of people running into the lake to avoid being caught.
According to another Forsyth County deputy, harde drugs such as heroin were being used at the party. No charges will be filed against anyone attending the party, as the main focus is on locating Gibbs.
Gibbs was one of three teenagers who were initially reported missing, but the other two teenagers have been discovered unharmed. They are being identified only as girls.
The Forsyth County Fire Department and Sheriffβs Office are working with the countyβs Geographic Information Services, the state Department of Natural Resources, the Hall County Sheriffβs Office, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to canvas the lake for Gibbs.
Divers have been summoned to two areas registered by sonar that may have contained Gibbsβ body, but further investigation revealed the sonar images were nothing but timber and a stump, 11 Alive reports.
