Crews Battle Wind-Swept Grass Fire in Dacula Subdivision
Firefighters worked fast to keep the fast-moving fire from spreading.
Firefighters had to work fast Monday afternoon to keep a wind-swept woods/grass fire from doing more damage than it did in a Dacula-area subdivision.
Gwinnett Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said in a news release that the fire behind a home in the Nichols Landing subdivision destroyed an outbuilding and melted some of the vinyl siding on the back side of the house on Nichols Landing Lane.

The fire was reported just after 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2; crews had the fire under control at 5:27 p.m. Rutledge said the fire is believed to have started on property that backs up to the subdivision, and then spread into the yard.
There was no damage inside the home, and no injuries were reported.
