A Dacula motorcyclist died Saturday in a multi-vehicle accident on Buford Dam Road near Buford.

Gwinnett Police said Gerald Aldridge, 68, of Dacula, died at the scene when he apparently tried to pass a car around 10:55 a.m. Saturday and ended up hitting another. The accident happened in the 2200 block of Buford Dam Road.
Police said Aldridge was traveling behind a Nissan passenger car and a Dodge pickup truck before the accident. The pickup had stopped to make a left turn at a business when Aldridge apparently tried to pass the Nissan directly in front of him.

“ Vehicle 1, the motorcycle, passed Vehicle 2 [Nissan] on the left, clipping the left rear of the vehicle. Vehicle 1 then collided with the left side of Vehicle 3 [Dodge] as it made the left turn into the business,” police said in a news release.
Investigators determined Aldridge was at fault in the accident; excessive speed is the suspected factor.
There were no other injuries in the accident.
