Man Accused of Exposure at GGC, Also Suspected in Peeping Tom Cases

Police say Derrick Michael Williams exposed himself to female students on Jan. 22.

A Gwinnett man is in jail on accusations he exposed himself to female students last week at Georgia Gwinnett College. He also is suspected in several peeping tom reports in 2014.

Derrick Michael Williams was being held without bond in the county jail, records showed Thursday afternoon.

Williams has been charged with public indecency, peeping tom (four counts) and home invasion. In both of the GGC cases, he allegedly asked women for driving directions then fondled himself when they approached his vehicle.

In the first incident, a woman was walking to her car in the L Gavel Parking Lot when a man sitting in a car asked for directions to Sugarloaf Mills Mall. When she approached, she told police the man was exposed and fondling himself.

A short time later, another woman said she had parked her car in the A Building Parking Lot when a car stopped and the man driving asked her for directions to Walmart. She saw the same thing as the first victim when she approached the vehicle.

GGC Police in coordination with Gwinnett Police arrested Williams Wednesday. He was booked into the jail at 5:24 p.m., according to jail records.

Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said Wlliams is suspected in four peeping tom incidents at Lawrenceville residences — two occurring last April, and one each in August and December. All of the victims were women, according to incident reports obtained by Patch.

In one of those cases, a man entered a bedroom at an Arnold Road residence on Aug. 4, and held his hand over a female victim’s mouth before fleeing, according to the incident report. In the others, a man was seen looking into windows at women and there was evidence of an attempt to enter through the windows.

The other incidents were reported April 4 on Feathertree Lane, April 16 on Candlewood Way, and Dec. 28 on Rutherton Court, according to police reports.
