Man Died After Falling Into Publix Deep Fryer: Lawsuit
The widow of a technician says her husband's death was caused when he slipped into hot oil at the Dacula supermarket.

DACULA, GA — A woman from Commerce is suing Publix, saying her husband died when he fell into a deep fryer at a Dacula location of the supermarket chain.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Mansur Blount was a vent hood technician who was cleaning a hood at the store in 2015. The vents were above a deep fryer with hot oil that was covered with a thin metal cover, according to the lawsuit.
Blount was "not aware of the hazard," the lawsuit says. A Publix spokeswoman declined to comment to the paper, saying the company doesn't comment on ongoing lawsuits.

According to the report, Blount was standing with his left leg on the cover while cleaning the vent. The cover slipped, and Blount's left leg fell into the deep fryer.
The 37-year-old Blount was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital with severe burns. He died July 4, 2015, at the hospital.
