Police Find Missing Truck from Fatal Home Invasion Near Dacula

The victim's truck was found Tuesday in Atlanta, but no suspects have been named.

Gwinnett Police say the victim’s truck that was stolen during a fatal home invasion shooting near Dacula last weekend.

The truck, a distinctive pickup truck belonging to Brian Whitfield, was recovered Tuesday night in Atlanta. It was unoccupied and had been partially stripped, police said.

Police said Whitfield, 45, was found shot to death in his driveway at 1735 Flowery Branch Road in unincorporated Gwinnett County near Dacula, the victim of a home invasion. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6.

Whitfield was dead from “apparent gunshot wounds,” police said. A passerby called 911 after seeing the man lying in the driveway of the residence.

Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said in a Wednesday email detectives are following up on several tips regarding the homicide, but no suspects have been named.
