Suspicious Package Reported at Congressman's Office

Police were investigating a suspicious package at the offices of U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson on Thursday.

Andy Phelan, a spokesman for Johnson, said the congressman's Lithonia office was evacuated around 11 a.m. after an employee opened a package containing an unknown red powder.

He said that, as a precaution, the entire office building where Johnson's field office is housed, on the 5700 block of Hillandale Drive in Lithonia, was evacuated. >>>Read More

Son Of Roswell Fire Chief Charged With Armed Robbery

Two Roswell teens, one of which is the son of the city's fire chief, have been arrested for the armed robbery of a gas station in Forsyth County.

Stephan Burnette, 17, and Troy Palmer, 18, had also conducted at least three other armed robberies -- in Cobb and Gwinnett counties and Roswell -- the same night, according to a Facebook post by the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Dog's Beating Death: Acworth Man Sentenced to Prison

An Acworth man has been sentenced to prison after admitting he injured and later killed a dog.

On Wednesday, Sidney Walker Taylor, 23, pled guilty to two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals. Taylor admitted that on April 20, 2015, he was so enraged that “Lilly,” a 12-pound Pomeranian-Chihuahua mix, had urinated on the floor that he slammed the dog’s head into the floor, knocking out three of her teeth. >>>Read More
