12 Porches Still Needed For Oakhurst Porchfest
The second annual event, set for Oct. 8, has 180 performers, but is still short on porches.

DECATUR, GA — The second annual Oakhurst Porchfest, set for Oct. 8, has signed up 180 performers, but is still about a dozen porches short of what's needed.
The event's organizers, including Decatur Metro, is keeping porch host registration open until it closes the gap.
Porch hosts are assigned just one, one-hour performance. The festival overall runs six hours this year.

The very first Porchfest was held in Ithaca, NY, nine years ago, with the concept of having musicians play an afternoon of music on front porches throughout the community. The concept has been spreading ever since, and Decatur’s Oakhurst community had its inaugural event last year. Decatur Metro said Oakhurst’s event was among the top five largest Porchfests ever held in its first year.
