Wyatt is in jail because of a crime spree which allegedly saw him stab LGBT activist Catherine Han Montoya to death inside her home on Shadowridge Drive in DeKalb County on April 13. Police believe Wyatt first stabbed his estranged wife at a Stockbridge Waffle house, then fled to DeKalb County, broke into Montoya’s home, and stabbed her to death.
Police were watching the home when Wyatt allegedly fled in a stolen car, then barricaded himself inside a home on Glynn Drive. He only surrendered after a SWAT team fired tear gas into the home.
