DeKalb Serial Killer Pleads Guilty to Murders

Aeman L. Presley's murders include the shooting death of a Cobb County hair dresser in downtown Decatur.

DECATUR, GA -- A man deemed a serial killer by prosecutors was sentenced to two life sentences Monday for murders including the shooting of a Cobb County hair dresser in downtown Decatur.

Aeman L. Presley, 35, pleaded guilty Monday to all charges related to the December 6, 2014 robbery and shooting of Karen Pearce in Decatur and the September 26, 2014 shooting death of Calvin Lewis Gholston, a DeKalb County homeless man.

He also faces murder charges in two other Fulton County cases.

“His actions were monstrous and had severe consequences on the lives of several individuals,” DeKalb County District Attorney Robert James said. “Although he accepted responsibility for his actions, when a person commits crimes this terrible, he deserves to go to prison for the rest of his life.”

Presley's two life sentences are each without the possibility of parole.

Presley was charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony for Gholston’s death. 

He was charged with malice murder, multiple counts of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and armed robbery for Pearce’s death.

Presley initially pleaded not guilty to charges that he murdered Pearce. 

He will be turned over to the jurisdiction of the Georgia Department of Corrections to serve out his sentence.
