Smyrna Woman Found Shot, Dead in Decatur
Decatur police are still investigating the incident and hope to have a suspect and a motive soon.

Police in Decatur have identified a body discovered outside a parking area on Saturday night as a Smyrna woman.
Karen Pearce, 44, was found dead in the 100 block of Ponce de Leon Avenue at approximately 10:55 p.m. on Saturday, Decatur Police Sgt. Jennifer Ross said Monday. Ross said that Pearce was found with a gunshot wound to the head, and that police are treating the incident as a homicide.
Ross added that investigators have evidence of Pearce leaving a local restaurant and attempting to reach her car in the vicinity of where her body was found, and adds that witnesses heard a gunshot just before her body was discovered. Ross added that a cause of death has yet to be conclusively determined.
