Oakhurst Porchfest 2016 Schedule Announced

DECATUR, GA — A total of 185 performances are set for Oakhurst Porchfest 2016 on Oct. 8.

A schedule and map of the performances can be found on Decatur Metro, one of the event's main sponsors and organizers.

Last year’s inaugural Oakhurst Porchfest had 134 performances. This year the event has expanded even more to the point that organizers were worried that not enough homes would volunteer their porches to participate.

The very first Porchfest was held in Ithaca, NY, nine years ago, with the concept of having musicians play an afternoon of music on front porches throughout the community. Oakhurst’s event was among the top five largest Porchfests ever held in its first year.

Andrew Lincoln, star of the mega-hit TV series "The Walking Dead," was seen strolling through the neighborhood last year and enjoying the music.
