Survey ranks Decatur among top small U.S. cities for AI-focused businesses (thechampionnewspaper.com) — Decatur has just been ranked the fifth-best small U.S. city for AI-focused business growth, thanks to its strong labor market, nearby data centers, and highly educated workforce. Positioned just outside Atlanta and close to Emory and Georgia Tech, the city is highlighted as an especially attractive place for AI companies seeking talent, infrastructure, and a solid regional economy.
   

2. Metro Atlanta school community comes together to help earthquake victims in Colombia (wsbradio.com) — Decatur City Schools and the broader Decatur community quickly rallied to support Colombians after a 7.4-magnitude earthquake, collecting more than 800 N95 masks in under 24 hours. Led by Fifth Avenue Upper Elementary Spanish teacher Lina Panuela, whose family lives in Cali, the effort shows how local students and neighbors are stepping up for international disaster relief.
   

3. Decatur Flock cameras getting spray-painted, cut down across multiple recent incidents (11alive.com) — Several of Decatur's Flock license-plate cameras have recently been spray-painted, turned away, cut down, or even stolen, leaving at least two of the city's 24 cameras offline. Police Chief Scott Richards told city leaders the incidents are under active investigation, as the city balances privacy concerns with using the camera network as a crime-fighting tool.
   

4. Which comes first, wisdom or desire? (pcusa.org) — College ministry leaders from around the country recently gathered in Decatur for a UKirk retreat exploring how Christian servant leadership grows from transformed desire and biblical wisdom. Columbia Theological Seminary professor Christine Roy Yoder urged students to see wisdom as a lifelong pursuit that shapes their hearts, motivations, and everyday leadership on campus and beyond.
   

5. Eleven Missing Georgia Children Recovered in International Human Trafficking Operation – [your]NEWS (yournews.com) — State officials say eleven missing Georgia children were recovered in an international anti-trafficking operation, and a Decatur man has been indicted in connection with one 16-year-old victim. The piece explains how Georgia's human trafficking unit works with national and international partners, and urges families to stay alert to online grooming and signs that vulnerable teens may be exploited.
