Suspect Arrested in Moreland Avenue Shootings

Authorities say Jeremy Washington shot and killed Darius Davenport early last Monday morning.

DECATUR, GA -- DeKalb County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a suspect in a shooting that killed one man and injured two others on Moreland Avenue last week.

Jeremy Landon Washington, 35, of Ellenwood, Ga., was arrested in Ellenwood by the sheriff's office's fugitive unit, the office said in a news release Tuesday.

A warrant was issued Saturday for Washington's arrest on charges including felony murder in the March 14 shooting.

Authorities say three men, including 32-year-old Darius Davenport, were in a Ford Mustang leaving Club Blaze on Moreland Avenue at about 2:30 a.m. when someone pulled up beside them at a stop light and fired into their vehicle, killing Davenport and injuring the other men.

The two injured victims were allegedly shot in the face by Washington.

Washington was arrested without incident and is being held at the DeKalb County Jail.
