Tin Lizzy’s Cantina announced the winner of the 2015 Tin Lizzy’s Taco Contest on Saturday, April 4 at a fiesta at Tin Lizzy’s Emory Point location. The contestants enjoyed FlexMex cuisine and the finalists’ tacos.

Travis Coxworth’s 1st Place “Crunchy Avocado,” featuring fried avocado, shredded lettuce, black beans, Jack cheese, red pepper pico and spicy ranch, won him bragging rights and $500 cash.

Kelley Whitmire’s Big Texas grilled steak taco ropes you in with a taste as big and bold as the Lone Star state, topped with cheddar cheese, fried onion strings, fried jalapeños and zesty barbecue sauce. Whitmire’s second place finish netted a prize of $300.

Pace Burch and Taylor Gonzales’ Asian Invasion is a Thai-inspired taco with grilled shrimp, Asian slaw, avocado tempura and chili roja sauce, sprinkled with cilantro and pumpkin seeds. Pace and Taylor won third place, and split the $175 prize.

The Aloha, Ruth Ledo’s pulled-pork taco, rides a wave of island flavor with tropical slaw, barbecue sauce and diced pineapple. Ledo came in fourth place and won a $75 Tin Lizzy’s gift card.
