Woman Hit By MARTA Train in Critical Condition

ATLANTA -- A woman hit by a MARTA train in DeKalb County Thursday afternoon was in the hospital in critical condition, transit officials said Friday.

The woman, who has not been publicly identified, was listed as critical but stable at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, MARTA spokesman Lyle Harris said.

Harris said the woman was suffering from two broken legs, a broken right arm and severe head injuries.

The incident happened at about 5 p.m. Thursday.

According to MARTA, the woman appeared to jump into the path of the oncoming train.

Service at the East Lake station was temporarily suspended during rush hour Thursday because of the incident.
