Bites Nearby: El Torero
Serving Atlanta salsa and chips, enchiladas, tacos, fajitas, and more since 1981.
This week on Bites Nearby, we'll take a look at the Duluth location of a popular restaurant founded in Chamblee 30 years ago.
-- The owner of El Torero, Manuel Magana, is a globetrotting photographer as well as a restaurateur. One of the neatest things about his restaurants is they are decorated with his own high-quality work featuring underwater scenes and sea creatures suitable for the pages of National Geographic. The menu is classic order-by-number traditional Mexican fare, influenced by the flavors of the Jalicsco state in Mexico where Magana grew up. Expect enchiladas, tacos, burritos, chimichangas and the like. El Torero's Margaritas are reputedly tasty and strong. El Torero is located at 3656 Satellite Blvd., Duluth, GA 30096. 770-476-4320. Open for lunch Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and for dinner 5 p.m.-10 p.m.; closed on Sundays. A menu is available on the restaurant website. A selection of Manuel's photographs may be viewed on the website, too. El Torero has other locations in Atlanta, Chamblee, Norcross, Roswell, Stone Mountain, Nashville and Murfreesboro, TN.
