Outdoor Living 'Dream Team'

Time to plan your outdoor fall projects. If you have big dreams for your outdoor living spaces, the fyi Duluth design studio "Dream Team" can make your dreams come true.

With a break in the weather soon to arrive, it is time to start planning your fall outside projects.

Where do you want to start? Patio, deck, screened porch or something more grand like a pool and spa? No matter how small or big a project is, the most important first step is to find the right resources.

I have spent several years assembling a "Dream Team" of outdoor living ranging from an award-winning celebrity garden designer to an awesome landscape company for new installations and maintanance to contractors who build outdoor rooms and hardscapes. My personal favorite is to add interest with garden accents. Beautiful flower containers, garden art to create focal points, and my new favorite thing for the outside, the world's most comfortable porch swings and garden benches.

The outdoors provides an escape from the daily chores of dirty dishes and piles of laundry inside. I love the concept of secret gardens, hammocks that are tucked away from the line of sight and green houses to putz in. I sometimes reach a point where I just need a time-out to get away from everything and go someplace where time stands still long enough for me to catch my breath. And for me, time stands still outside.

No matter your budget, there are projects you can plan for. A decorative pot full of beautiful flowers adds a warm welcome to the entrance to your home. A swing on the front porch or bench in the garden is a catalyst to a lifetime of memories and stories.

Creating outdoor spaces that work well need to complement how you live. If you like to entertain outside, create a big patio or deck that provides a comfortable space to seat all of your guests. If you prefer more intimate spaces, think smaller and cozier spots. Outdoor drapes are great low-cost solution for defining outdoor rooms if you don't want to go to the expense of an arbor, pergola or gazebo.

Sculpture and garden accents are unexpected treasures hidden among the floral and fauna. Specialty gardens to attract birds and butterflies are magical. As we enter the cooler months, gardens can be designed to provide winter color to create an interesting contrast among all of the leafless and lifeless plants.

Our team of outdoor living professionals is in the business of making your dreams come true. If you got a project, we can help.
