The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Duluth.

(Patch Media)

Good day, neighbors! Nicole Tess Kazora here with today's issue of the Duluth Daily.

First, today's weather:

Times of clouds and sun. High: 68 Low: 47.

Here are the top three stories in Duluth today:

  1. A crash involving a Department of Public Safety officer shut down several lanes of I-85 SB in Gwinnett, about 8 miles outside of Duluth, on Friday. The wreck, which involved an overturned tractor-trailer and the Dept. of Public Safety officer, happened around 2 p.m. in the southbound lanes of the interstate right before the Lawrenceville Suwanee Exit. "The preliminary investigation shows that the MCCD Officer impacted with a tractor-trailer in the fourth lane from the concrete median. The trailer overturned and caught fire," Georgia State Police said. The drivers had minor injuries. (WSB Atlanta)
  2. In a budget meeting earlier this week, Gwinnett County Public schools reported that the free meal service given through a federal waiver will end on Jun. 30. In the next school year, students will be once again charged for breakfast and lunch based on their eligibility. The district is looking at community eligibility provisions through USDA for certain schools. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  3. Duluth's local restaurants and food chains were recently given grades by the Georgia Department of Public Health and the Gwinnett, Newton & Rockdale Health Department. Letter grades were assigned as follows: A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70, and U for less than 70. See how your favorite restaurants measured up at the link.
