Happy Tuesday, people of Duluth! Welcome back after a long weekend due to the Brave's win! Let's get this day started off right. Here's everything you need to know about what's happening today in Duluth.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and pleasant. High: 74 Low: 45.

Here are the top stories today in Duluth:

  1. I feel the earth move under my feet! A magnitude 2.1 earthquake was registered about 1.1 miles north of our neighbors in Lilburn at around 2:39 a.m. on Monday morning. However, there was barely enough movement at the epicenter of the quake to create any worry. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. This week, Gwinnett police have started activating some new speed cameras in four school zones around the county. One of the planned cameras was turned on yesterday at Duncan Creek Elementary School in Hoschton as part of the Gwinnett County Police Department's school zone safety programming. The other planned cameras will be installed within the next few months at Anderson-Livsey Elementary in Snellville, Graves Elementary in Norcross/Duluth and Lanier High School in Gainesville. Be safe and be careful when driving in these areas. (WSB Radio)
  3. On Sunday, more than 30 residents were displaced after a fire gutted out an entire building at the Elevate at Jackson Creek Apartments in Norcross. Firefighters were able to get all residents out of the building and they rescued two dogs. Three residents were treated by paramedics at the scene and were released. (WSB Atlanta)
  4. The Duluth Public Art Commission has called upon artists to submit their proposals to work on the Rogers Bridge public art project. They are seeking a qualified and experienced artist to re-purpose and reuse the salvaged steel from the original bridge and recreate the steel into a public art project that "will preserve the significance and history in a unique and interesting way, and accompany a newly re-designed Rogers Bridge Park." If you wish to submit a proposal for this special project, you have until 2 p.m. on January 14. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  5. The Gwinnett County school district is seeking auto and diesel fleet technicians for school buses and other vehicles. This position is a full-time position that comes with benefits. The pay scale ranges from $17.90 to $29.90 per hour, depending on your work experience and college credits. Apply now! ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
