Morning, neighbors! Lyndsay Kendall Oxley here with the latest edition of the Duluth Daily.

First, today's weather:

Mostly cloudy, showers around. High: 59 Low: 50.

Here are the top stories in Duluth today:

  1. PCOM students and staff from the Georgia Team is helping to paint Gwinnett County pink and raise funds for breast cancer awareness. This initiative is raising funds for breast cancer programs at the Northside Gwinnett Breast Centers in both Lawrenceville and Duluth. The primary goal of the program is to bring high-quality 3D mammography to both Gwinnett locations in order to diagnose breast cancer in earlier stages. The funds are also going toward providing appropriate access to mammograms and reliable transportation patients diagnosed with breast cancer. (metroatlantaceo.com)
  2. The annual Good Taste Gwinnett of Fall 2021 was a virtual event held on every Thursday of October. It featured demos and dishes from local chefs. Participants were able to view recipes before the event, and were able to follow along. If you missed out this year, keep your eyes and ears peeled for next year because this is definitely an event you do not want to miss! (Gwinnettdailypost.com)
  3. Five teenagers have been arrested for making threats on social media that were directly made towards Gwinnett County schools and its staff. This comes after GCPS created a rule that any threats will be punishable with a fine and a prison sentence. (CBS46 News Atlanta)
  4. Heads up! The Norcross area will have road closures, detours, and lots of traffic near the Holcomb Bridge Road area because of a car show this weekend. (Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  5. A local developer in Peachtree Corners is planning to convert a closed hotel into affordable apartments. This is the first building permit given by the county under the ordinance that was created in May that allows developers to change dwindling hotels into small and affordable apartments.
